We love because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19 Since we are made in the image of God, we are made for relationships. God, at the core of His nature, is relational: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit relate to each other in perfect love and invite us to join in with them.
John 17:22-23: (Jesus praying to the Father) I have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be one as We are one: I in them and You in Me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me.
At The Sanctuary, there are 3 Levels of Community Groups that allow for various levels of commitment.
You can “stick your toe in the water” or “dive in the deep end!”
1) “Toe Deep” Groups: Groups that meet for just ONE TIME.
A great place to start, with a low level of commitment.
Group such as:
- Dinners for Eight (potluck in someone’s home)
- Lunch Out Group (at a restaurant after church)
- Activity Group (hiking, biking, ski day, theater, sports...
...and whatever else you dream of doing! If you have an idea, let us know
2) “Knee Deep Groups” - SHORT –TERM Community Groups:
Groups that meet for a shorter 4-12 week commitment focused on a particular topic, book or Bible study, such as:
- Women’s Groups (i.e. Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, etc)
- Men’s Groups (i.e. Wild at Heart, Tender Warrior, etc.)
- Alpha Groups (Exploring the Basics of our Faith)
- Topical Video Studies
- Bible Studies on a book of the Bible
...or other ideas that you have!
3) “Heart Deep Community Groups” -
These are ON-GOING Community Groups
- Groups of 8-12 people that commit for on-going connection through regular gatherings (2-4x a month) in homes to:
- Do life together – walk alongside the ups & downs of life, share a meal, celebrate special occasions, etc.
- Sharing & prayer for one another
- Care for each other in practical ways during times of need
- Grow spiritually through various options: (Group decides)
- A Bible study or book study
- Worship singing
- Supporting & volunteering with a Ministry Partner
- Sharing communion together
These groups may form out of natural connections made through one-time gatherings or short-term groups.
Each group will re-evaluate their commitment & focus periodically.
